Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

Arrive at Casablanca by air. This bustling metropolis is Morocco's largest city and an economic hub. It's famous for its modern infrastructure and colonial architecture. Spend the night at a comfortable hotel, where you can rest after your flight.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. The journey will take around one hour, and upon arrival, explore the city’s rich history and culture.

Rabat:

  • Kasbah of the Udayas (Kasbah des Oudaias): This ancient fortress sits majestically overlooking the Bou Regreg River. Its white and blue-washed buildings offer a stunning contrast against the clear skies, with narrow winding streets that lead you through a maze of history. Don’t miss the Andalusian Gardens, a tranquil oasis perfect for a peaceful walk.
  • Hassan Tower (Tour Hassan): One of the most iconic landmarks in Rabat, this towering minaret was intended to be the largest in the world but remains incomplete. Dating back to the 12th century, the tower is a symbol of Rabat's historical significance and stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The site also features the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a place of great national importance.
  • Royal Palace (Dar al-Makhzen): Located in the heart of Rabat, this palace is the official residence of the King of Morocco. Its stunning architecture and expansive gardens are a true testament to Morocco’s royal heritage. While the palace itself is not open to the public, the surrounding grounds and gates are a sight to behold.

After your visit to Rabat, continue your journey north to Tangier, a vibrant coastal city perched on the edge of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. This bustling port city has a rich blend of cultures, having been influenced by both Europe and Morocco.

Tangier:

  • Kasbah Museum: Located in the 17th-century Dar el-Makhzen Palace, this museum showcases the history and culture of Tangier and the surrounding region. As you explore the exhibits, enjoy panoramic views of the city and the Strait of Gibraltar from the museum’s terrace.
  • Tangier American Legation Museum: Unique as the only U.S. National Historic Landmark outside of the United States, this museum offers a deep dive into the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Morocco and the United States. It also features art exhibits and insights into the city’s colorful history.
  • Hercules Cave (Grottes d'Hercule): Situated near the coast, these caves are surrounded by legend. According to mythology, Hercules rested here during his labors. Today, the caves are a popular tourist destination, known for their natural beauty and their iconic opening that resembles the shape of Africa when viewed from the sea.

After exploring Tangier, return to your hotel for an evening of relaxation.

After a delicious breakfast, we begin our journey northward, passing through the picturesque coastal towns as we make our way toward Chefchaouen, also known as the Blue Pearl of Morocco. The drive will take us through varied landscapes, including the famous boundary marker where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. On the way, we will stop for a delightful lunch at a cozy café perched along the Strait of Gibraltar, offering stunning views across the water.

Chefchaouen:

As you arrive in Chefchaouen, the sight of this unique city nestled in the Rif Mountains will take your breath away. The city is famous for its blue-painted buildings, a tradition started centuries ago. This calming shade of blue reflects the peaceful nature of this mountain town, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

  • The Blue Pearl: Chefchaouen is widely known for its stunning blue hues that cover the walls of nearly every building in the city. The blue tones have spiritual significance, representing the sky and heaven, and they create a serene and magical ambiance that attracts travelers from all over the world. The contrast between the whitewashed walls and the lush green mountain backdrop makes for a picturesque setting.
  • Kasbah Museum: Located in the heart of Chefchaouen’s medina, this historic kasbah has been converted into a museum where you can delve into the history of the city and the surrounding Rif Mountains. The museum showcases various artifacts and local craftsmanship, offering insight into the culture and heritage of the region. Don’t forget to explore the beautiful gardens inside the kasbah, which provide a peaceful retreat.
